Local Resources

GOT TRASH?

Here are some resources to reuse and recycle rather than landfill.

RSI - Recycling Services, Inc.
365 Elm St, Pottstown, PA 610-323-8545
RSI accepts many of the items that your curbside service does not.  See their website for a list of accepted items.  $8 per car fee.

MONTCO Recycles
This website will contain information for residents, businesses, and municipalities on how, what and where to reuse and recycle.

FreeCycle.org
You no longer want or need an item, but there is still some life left in it.  Don't sentence said item to a landfill, FreeCycle it.  It's easy and feels so good.

Compost
Trappe and Collegeville maintain a compost facility at 333 West 7th Avenue, near the intersection of Borough Line Road. Residents of either borough may deliver leaves, grass clippings, tree trimmings, Christmas trees, and similar materials at no cost, and upon showing proof of residency (i.e., a valid Pennsylvania driver's license). Tree stumps are not accepted. Mulch created at the compost facility is free to all persons.

Old Sneakers
Next time you are at the Philadelphia Outlets, take your old sneaks to be recycled by dropping off at the Nike store.

Ink Cartridges
Stapes
Perkiomen Valley Watershed Conservancy

Plastic Bags
There is a box at the entrance to Giant, Genuardi's, Acme, and Wegmans that accepts plastic bags.

LIVING GREEN

Not sure where to begin, try a few of these tips.

Cleaning
Save money and go green by making your own household disinfectant cleaner.

Combine 1/2 cup borax with 1 gallon white vinegar.  Pour into spray bottles and clean.

Recycle
You can run a TV for 6 hours on the amount of electricity that is saved by recycling 1 aluminum can.

Bags
Bring your own reusable bags shopping with you. Kick the plastic bag habit.

BUY LOCAL

While some items may seem like a bargain in a big chain store here is a fact. For every $100 spent in a locally owned and operated stores, $68 returns to our community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. That same $100 spent in a chain only $43 stays here.

Food

The Chains
Most of the local chain grocers advertise the local produce and products.
